To see or not to see...

BEATRICE.jpg

To see or not to see, that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The gun slingings and bullets of an outrageous play adaptation,
Or to take arms against a bad rendition,
And shun my favorite Shakespeare play?
~Hamlet well, kinda ;)

Fellow countrymen I wanted to extend warm invitation to those of you interested in watching “Much Ado About Nothing” this weekend. If weather permits, Jacob and I have decided to give it a go this Saturday. And I must say, I’m kind of excited even though both of us are far from thrilled with the western theme. But hey, even if we don’t make it through the whole play, having a picnic in the midst of fire-juggling-iambic pentameter speaking jesters is WELL worth the trip. Although I am a bit leery of this adaptation, I have committed to staying through the first act. I’ve got to here Benedick say “What, my dear Lady Disdain! are you yet living?” If that line is delivered well I won’t care if the he’s decked out in chaps and spurs. However, if the line is falls short I’ll be tempted to boot-scootn’ boogie on to something else. A game of kickball? Coffee?
So, if you’d like meet up with us let me know and we can bring extra blankets and snacks. Wait, does anybody know what time the pre-shows begin? I don’t want to miss the fire juggling.
P.S. Ange, are you game? We need somebody to take good notes. ;)

Multiple Me's and Dimensional You's

multiple.jpg

This past weekend a friend of mine, Heidi H., asked a really interesting question as an icebreaker: If you were to decompartmentalize aspects of your personality (think multiple personality disorder) what would you name them and why? For example, do you tend to have an analytical side that comes out at work? If so, what name best captures it? “Alfred?” Or say there is a side of you that enjoys proving yourself to others by physical means. Maybe you would you would call that persona “Gilgamesh”? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilgamesh.
P.S. It’s kinda neat how certain people or environments bring out different aspects of our personalities. For example, I am very talkative at parties, but pretty quiet with my biological family, where as, Jacob’s pretty quite at parties, and much more talkative with his biological family.

Looking forward to hearing some names! Gosh, I wish there were jobs that entailed asking fun questions all day long!
